Have your own workpiece machined
There is a good reason why the "DMG EXPERIENCE CENTERS TURN & MILL" is becoming a "user-oriented experience" for every visitor to the trade fairs in Bielefeld and Shanghai: the machines on show, with their turning/milling technology and full, six-side machining, can be used to produce more than just demonstration components. Rather, users can experience how their own, complex workpiece is machined from the raw material to the finished part within one day. Very different tools made by LMT and by Paul Horn GmbH, appropriate for each application, are used for this.
"We are not just putting on a show demonstration. A genuine, realistic customer part, with all its properties such as tolerances and surface qualities, is actually machined. And of course this means that we hold discussions, describe and explain things. And we certainly don't do anything that the interested watchers cannot comprehend" explains Harry Junger, General Manager of GILDEMEISTER Drehmaschinen GmbH. This is his basic philosophy for the two new "EXPERIENCE CENTERS TURN & MILL". In the December just gone DMG opened the second center of this type in Shanghai.
Visitors are therefore accompanied throughout the day by a highly experienced application engineer and a representative from the technical sales department. The two-person team concentrates entirely on the potential customer and their specific workpiece.
LMT tools in use
The new CTX gamma 2000 TC from GILDEMEISTER will be of particular interest here to many visitors. Through the integration of an additional tool revolver having up to 12 tools, along with a B-axis for cutting with up to 5 axes, new production options are opened to the user. The CTX gamma 2000 TC offers the same feature as all the machines shown at the DMG Center: depending on the component and the application, the revolver can be fitted with tools from DMG's cooperation partners LMT and Paul Horn GmbH. When necessary, this of course also applies to the disk magazine that supplies the B-axis with up to 36 tools; the capacity can even be increased up to 120 tools if a chain magazine is used. In any event, the full stock of standard tools is available in Bielefeld and in Shanghai.
Machine-tool interplay
So whether a component requires turning, deep-hole drilling, tooth forming, out-of-round turning, rotary milling, 4-axis roughing, high-performance milling, non-central turning and milling, or even 5-axis simultaneous milling – the "EXPERIENCE CENTER TURN & MILL" gives users a demonstration of various LMT and Paul Horn tools within an ultra-modern production environment. "Real improvements in users' performance come out of the interaction between different kinds of know-how. The new DMG machines therefore have to be fitted with exactly the right tools for each application" explains Tilo Höbel, Marketing Manager of LMT Germany. "And this is exactly what visitors from a range of different application fields are shown in Bielefeld. So being able to present our tool developments in this context is a real prize for us and for our cooperation partner Paul Horn GmbH."
