Checks ensure constant quality

From the smallest carbide part weighing less than 1 g, up to large items with a mass of more than 100 kg, one-off fabrications or mass produced parts, from unique forms made to customers drawing through to standard parts – strict dimensional monitoring and supervision of all the metallurgical parameters guarantee the constantly high-quality of the blanks made by LMT group partner Boehlerit. The properties needed in the ultimate product and the quality required both affect the fabrication of the carbide even at the very beginning of the process. Strict guidelines are therefore followed when processing the individual components (WC, TiC, TaC, NbC, Co, Ni).

The blanks are checked with a fine-tooth comb before they are further processed. Magnetic saturation, coercivity and density are important parameters for the assessment of carbide parts. Dimensional checks are only made after metallurgical approval.
