IQ Plus: Smart Coatings for Tapping
IQ Plus combines an extremely hard and durable material layer with a second, softer coating. The surface of the taps thereby adapts perfectly to the stress of the run-in phase. Thanks to the reduced friction, the drill’s tool life is extended by up to 50 percent and the quality of the thread surface increases considerably.
By combining an extremely hard, durable layer and a “softer” IQ Plus hard material coating, a new intelligent self-adjusting surface structure which can adapt to stress develops during the run-in phase.
Learning by doing: the coating “learns” its task in order to effectively support the cutting process. The effect: quicker, more perfect and sustainable smoothing of the coated tool surface. An intelligent “fusion” of both layers which considerably increases tool life.
