LMT joins BluECOmpetence initiative
In the future our cars and aircraft will consume less fuel, wind turbines will be even more efficient and production facilities generally require less energy. Many actors are involved in realizing this success story – and the German engineering industry is definitely one of them. In its BluECOmpetence initiative, VDMA, the German Engineering Federation, intends to pool and network its members’ expertise in one of the most important subjects of the future. The LMT Group has now joined this sustainability campaign – for good reasons.
Consider the example of resource-saving production processes: this subject is almost unthinkable without the right precision tools. On the one hand, innovations like LMT thread rolling heads ensure that high-quality components can be produced using lower volumes of material overall. On the other hand, tools that are used in energy-intensive processes are being continuously developed and improved. Thus, for example, the new SpeedCore hob guarantees that gearwheels can be produced much faster while the energy consumption per component is reduced. “We can present a whole series of examples like these,” explains Volker Reinsch, head of Marketing at the LMT Group. “Our tools are also being increasingly used, for example, in the construction of wind turbines and in the development of lighter and therefore more economical cars. The subject of sustainability is therefore relevant to us in many areas. Hence, it was only logical that we should support the VDMA initiative.” The tools specialists already aim to underscore this aspiration during their appearance at this year’s EMO fair. As a result, the name and logo of the campaign will be integrated into the fair booth.
Developing sustainable solutions
The nationwide launch of BluECOmpetence took place in July. The VDMA campaign does not only aim to increase awareness of the mechanical and plant engineering industry’s great competence in the field of sustainability. It also supports the creation of robust standards and criteria for sustainable production and products. Additionally, the members of the initiative pledge to develop sustainable solutions in their particular fields. – That is a goal that LMT has already been fulfilling for many years.
