Tangential rolling head T270K compact: performance packed into the smallest space

Thread rolling is faster, more precise and more cost-effective than any kind of machining. A thread can be formed in 0.05 seconds. The new, smaller, T270K compact rolling head now makes it possible to use this technique where in the past there was not enough room. High strength materials can be shaped on machines in the smallest space.

LMT's development engineers have moved the pivot of the roller hinges, the rolling head bracket and the shank towards the front. The result is an enormously compact and highly stable rolling head, bringing maximum performance to machine tools with the minimum working space. Fitting the T270K is quite straightforward: there is only one position – in other words the right one – in which the thread rollers can be fitted. The head can be set up either outside or inside the machine. The movement of the thread rollers about the axis can be finely adjusted. The threads have exactly the correct dimensions right until the worn thread roller is replaced.

High surface quality

The crucial advantages for any user remain the same: unlike machining other threads or shapes, rolling does not destroy the structure of the material. The thread formed in this way is significantly stronger, and can be reproduced exactly at any time. The surface quality is the same as is obtained from press polishing. And of course swarf is no longer generated. Minimum cycle times, maximum tool lifetimes, and perfect results that can be counted on mean that the costs per thread are reduced.
