Innovations for gear wheel production

Without gear wheels, drive equipment would almost stop turning. Manufacturers produce these components by the million for use in automotive gearboxes or in the gears of large wind turbines. Gear hobs have proven themselves for more than a hundred years now in the manufacture of gear wheels and other tooth-cutting tasks. And LMT Fette, as a tooth-cutting specialist, has pushed forward the development and production of these and other tooth-cutting tools for nearly as long.

The latest development in the long series of innovations is the Nanosphere gear hob, whose innovative multi-layer coating is yielding a huge increase in gear production performance.

Whether worm gears, spur gears, conical gears, helical wheels or crown wheels need to be made for any kind of gear – the targets pursued in production are mostly the same: manufacturing times and costs are to be reduced, and the quality of the gear cutting improved. LMT makes a vital contribution to this through the development and production of its tooth-cutting tools.
