TURN DOWN THE COSTS OF TURNING
Whether in the steel industry or the automotive field – LMT's indexable inserts are demonstrating their capabilities in more and more new applications in the field of turning and rotary shaving. One example from the steel industry: using the new LC218E rotary shaving type, a German company has obtained a significant increase in tool life when producing bars of tool steel. Until now, only three bars were made with each tool, but five are possible with the new rotary shaving type.

Accurate dimensions, reliable processes, high productivity and optimum surface quality – these are the most important keywords for cutting cast-iron, nonferrous metals and other hard-to-cut materials. Particularly hard steels or cast-iron types must be processed on machine tools for die and mould manufacturing. At the same time, this process yields extremely accurate moulds with which, in the automobile industry for instance, complex components will later be fabricated – it is therefore hardly any surprise that die and mould manufacturing is setting the pace for modern technologies with new machining methods.
CLAMPING SYSTEMS FOR EVERY APPLICATION
Tool systems for clamping cutters or drills to a machine are used all around the world in many fields of application and on almost every type of machine. High-end devices for fully automatic shrinking and pre-setting tools are used, as are smaller, mobile stations. The clamping systems from LMT's group partner Bilz are used by very different customers from the automobile and machine tool sectors, for instance. The latest example of the history of innovations involved here is the SCK synchro-chuck. It not only permits compensation for synchronization errors when thread tapping, but can also be used in many other different applications.
