LMT TOOLS MEXICO: TOOLS FOR THE MEXICAN AUTOMOTIVE BOOM
In the past years, Mexico has almost become the "favorite location" of the international automotive industry. This has been made possible by the good training of the specialized personnel, the improved infrastructure and the proximity to the US market. Against this backdrop, the Mexican market is also becoming increasingly important for tool manufacturers. In line with this, LMT Tools founded a new sales company in Mexico last year. Which demands do Mexican customers have and which objectives has the company set? A conversation with Daniel Martinez, Commercial Director LMT Tools Mexico.
OF DIFFICULT-TO-MACHINE MATERIALS CURVES
Engines in aircrafts, exhaust gas turbines in automobiles or knee joints in medical technology: In numerous applications, materials are used which are difficult to process using conventional milling methods. In this case, trochoidal milling is the ideal solution. Users can significantly reduce processing times, while ensuring high quality and process reliability. A machining workshop held by LMT Tools and Coscom has shown which tools are suitable for trochoidal processing and what requirements must be met by the machines.
GEAR WHEEL PRODUCTION TRENDS
From small gear wheels for passenger car transmissions to large modules for wind turbines: The global demand for gear wheels is rising. The most important aspect during the production of gears is multi-functionality. Milling tools must be able to fulfill several tasks at the same time to save time on milling processes and to increase production efficiency. Thomas Falk, Head of the Gear Cutting Segment at LMT Tools, gives an overview of the trends in the area of gear cutters.

THE TOOL STRATEGISTS - INSIGHTS INTO THE ADVANCED TOOLING SEGMENT
Their focus extends far beyond individual tools: The engineers of the Advanced Tooling segment at LMT Tools develop complete machining strategies for components, especially for complex components in automobiles. In this interview, segment head Jürgen Richter talks about the challenges the engineers face.
LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIALS ON THE INCREASE IN CARS
Lightweight construction using high-tensile steels, aluminium and carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics has been occupying car industry development departments for years. The proportion of these materials in vehicles is set to increase from 30% today to up to 70% in 2030.
"SPEEDCORE IS ALREADY AN INDUSTRY STANDARD"
Over 250 experts attended the GETPRO Congress to talk about developments in gearbox production. Experts from LMT TOOLS were also present and we spoke with Thomas Falk, Head of the Gear Cutting Segment at LMT, about the latest trends in gearbox manufacturing.
LMT TOOLMANAGEMENT – 100% TEAMWORK FOR SUCCESS
This job will always be highly complex – irrespective of whether you’re setting up a brand-new production plant on a green-field site or improving existing processes: when you decide to optimize your tool logistics, you find yourself confronted by a multitude of questions. LMT tool managers can not only help you find the right answers, but will also support the process through different stages and levels. The basis for this effort is 100% teamwork.
ALL-ROUND SUPPLIES FOR THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY
The complexity of mass production in the automotive sector is illustrated by the example of a central component in modern diesel engines: the common rail distributor pipe. About 20 different cutting and drilling tools are necessary just for the cutting processes needed for its manufacture. In order to be able to guarantee the quality of these and other mass-produced components used in automobile production, LMT's experts look at the various manufacturing processes as a whole. They are specialized in customers' products, and use the know-how accumulated through extensive practical experience.
