The international screw-cutting industry meets every year at SIMODEC in La Roche-sur-Foron. LMT France participated in the trade show as an exhibitor in February 2014, presenting new thread rolling, peeling and reaming tools.
The SIMODEC fair in the municipality of La Roche-sur-Foron in eastern France is regarded as the world’s largest industry gathering for screw-cutting machinery. Every year in France’s leading engineering region some 250 exhibitors from the tool industry present their products to roughly 14,000 trade visitors from the automotive, aviation, rail and watch-making sectors as well as from the fields of connection and medical technology.
Several LMT France employees took part in SIMODEC 2014 in February. Working with a sales partner, they presented specialized tools by LMT Fette and LMT Belin, including rolling heads for chipless thread rolling, peeling heads that make it possible to reduce and chamfer materials in a single work step, and specialized reaming tools. LMT indexable inserts that guarantee significantly longer tool life and improved process reliability are a key component of these turning tools. Performance hikes of up to 30% can be achieved in external and internal machining applications as well as in recessing, cropping and thread tapping. This substantially reduces production costs.
Growth driven by the German car industry
Alexandre Pourrat, Marketing Manager at LMT Belin France, sums up his impressions of the fair: “At SIMODEC we clearly noticed that industrial activities in the European screw-cutting machine tool sector are increasing again. The German car industry in particular is driving international growth. At the fair we had detailed discussions with roughly 300 attendees, the majority of whom were from the automotive sector. They showed a strong interest in the rolling systems and special tools of LMT Fette and LMT Belin.”
