Grand Opening of the New Training Workshop
Last Thursday, March 6, the time had finally come: many months of planning and implementation were honored with the ceremonial opening of the new training workshop. The result is impressive and offers trainees a modern and practical workplace.
The ceremonial opening of the new training workshop in Lahr began with an atmospheric musical interlude on the classical guitar by one of our trainees. This was followed by an official welcome speech, which emphasized the importance of the new training facility for the future.
In addition to the apprentices, the trainees and those responsible for training in production, members of the owner family and the supervisory board, the management, works councils and representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Lahr commercial schools and the employment agency were also present.
After the speeches, the guests had the opportunity to take an exclusive tour of the state-of-the-art training workshop. The symbolic opening of the training workshop took place with the cutting of a ribbon. As a memento of the day, everyone received a small give-away in the form of a pen holder. At the final get-together, those present enjoyed a high-quality buffet and took the opportunity to exchange ideas in a festive atmosphere. Inspiring discussions also took place between the trainees, the management and the supervisory board members.
From vision to implementation - the conversion:
Initial plans for the conversion of the training workshop began in spring 2024 and marked the start of the conversion work. The test center was dismantled in the next step so that the space could be redesigned. New machines, including lathes and drills, found a suitable place in the new training workshop alongside new workbenches in May 2024. Air conditioning, a screen wall, windows and new electrics were also included. The final move took place from the beginning of August to the beginning of September and the new training workshop shone in new splendor for the start of training on September 4, 2024. This was followed by further optimizations, such as the introduction of the 5S method for workplace organization in the workbenches.
Modern and practical - the new training workshop:
The result is impressive: With six workbenches, five machine workstations and a PC workstation, there are now a total of twelve workstations on around 100 square meters. This means that all basic and machine training can now be carried out in the new premises. Previously, there was a separate area for trainees within the production halls. The good indoor climate and the appealing design of the new environment provide the ideal teaching atmosphere for combining theory and practice. The acquisition of learning software and the provision of a new lathe and several drilling machines are particular highlights of the redesign. Around €100,000 was invested in the project.
“A well-equipped training workshop is the basis for good training and is therefore absolutely essential,” says Ulrike Karl (Head of Training). The great advantage of the new premises is that the trainees have their own area where they can learn the skills and knowledge they will need for their future careers in peace and quiet. Here they can learn on their own responsibility and also strengthen their teamwork skills. The topic of tidiness and cleanliness is not neglected either.
This appealing training workshop and the optimal learning atmosphere that prevails there also makes it easier to recruit new trainees for these professions.
